Drama didn’t just stay in the hospital on Grey’s Anatomy. In 2006, Isaiah Washington (Burke) got into a nasty on-set fight with Patrick Dempsey (Shepherd). In the heat of it, Washington used a slur aimed at co-star T.R. Knight. The story spread quickly, and Knight soon came out publicly. Just when things were calming down, Washington repeated the word backstage at the 2007 Golden Globes. That was it — ABC let him go that summer.
