
Songkran is the traditional New Year celebration of Thailand. There is a tradition of giving respect to elders on this festival. It is celebrated every year between 13 and 15 April. This festival is especially known as the festival of water. On this day, people pour water on each other. Which is considered a symbol of washing away evil and purification. Children, young and old, all participate in it. Water is offered to the statue of Buddha by going to temples, and blessings are taken by pouring water on the hands of elders.
In the city, it is celebrated on the streets with water fun and the sound of drums. Nowadays, it has become very popular among tourists as well, and people from all over the world come to Thailand to celebrate it.
